CESC to invest Rs 2,500 crore in solar, wind power generation over next 18 months

CESC Ltd plans to invest over Rs 2,500 crore in setting up solar and wind generation capacity.

Sanjiv Goenka, chairman of CESC said, “We are leapfrogging towards the next level of expansion where we want to reach a target capacity of 500 mw solar and wind power in the next 18 months while expanding our footprint simultaneously. We believe we are on the right track and will do our best to grow in this field.”

CESC’s total thermal and renewable generation capacity currently stands at about 2,478 mw. The company has 86 mw wind power capacities in Rajasthan and Gujarat, and 27 mw solar capacities in Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu.
