Essel Infra , GCL sign MOU with AP Govt to set up 5-GW solar manufacturing hub by 2020

 According to a Essel press release, Essel Infra projects Ltd  and  Chinese photovoltaic (PV) material maker Golden Concord Holdings Ltd (GCL) have teamed up to set up 5 GW solar module manufacturing capacity in Andhra Pradesh by 2020.

The companies have formed a consortium to invest USD 2 billion (EUR 1.8bn) in establishing the integrated solar manufacturing hub, Essel Group. The two companies inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Andhra Pradesh government as part of the Partnership Summit organised by CII.

The press release added that the solar hub is expected to create about 15,000 jobs and will supply both domestic and overseas markets, supporting the Make in India initiative of PM Modi and also help the country achieve its target of installing 100 GW of solar power capacity by 2022.
